SOUTHERN District’s leading trainer Brett Cavanough is one step closer to a move to Scone.Brett Cavanough is looking forward to getting out of his comfort zone.

Cavanough now has a deadline for his move from Albury to Scone after it was revealed he will take over the stables of leading country trainer Greg Bennett.

Cavanough will take over 44 boxes and a number of Bennett’s horses from April 2, when Bennett retires from training to take up a position with Aquis Farm.

Cavanough plans to lease another 24 boxes from Easter and is still in the construction process of more, that could take the total to 100 by year’s end.

The 11-time Southern District Racing Association (SDRA) premiership winner said it was an offer too good to refuse.

“Greg rang me last Thursday and who’d say no to going there? I couldn’t say no. It makes sense,” Cavanough said.

“It was always the plan for me to get out of my comfort zone, get out there, flex up and see how good I am.”
