Ringa-Ding-Ding. Seven Bells Returns in Style

Goulburn - November 20, 2009 - Well performed mare Seven Bells was back at the track and back in the winners circle after taking out the $20,000 sprint race on Goulburn Cup day.

Returning after a fourteen week lay-off the gutsy galloper came from well back in the field to snatch victory at the post and take her career record to eight wins and six minors from just eighteen starts.

Seven Bells was right up against it from the start after drawing an awkward barrier and travelling three-deep without cover, stable-jockey Adam Gain was forced to go forward from that position and had pulled within three lengths by the 400m but had spent plenty of petrol.

The apprentice got busy at about the 300m mark with the mare taking an age to wind up, but she soon hit top gear and came rattling down the centre of the track to nail the second horse on the line.

The Clang five-year-old had the toughest run of the race, nosed out a horse which never left the fence and clocked 1:17.09 for the 1300m.

Seven Bells impressive record now includes five wins from her last six starts.

Four-year-old maiden Cupro Nickel also returned to the track and produced a solid first-up run to finish third over 1400m.

The son of Galileo jumped from the inside barrier and was buried back in the pack as Gain elected to take the shortest route home.

Cupro Nickel produced a run to go with the leaders but faded over the closing stages as the favourites took the money.

Ramelius Gold's winning run came to an end in the fifth race of the day, the mare set a cracking pace from the widest gate but was overhauled in the final stages.

In a blanket finish for the placings, Ramelius officially finished sixth but was only a nose from grabbing a minor placing.

The Invinsible One joins Cavanough team
The Cavanough team has acquired an exciting racing prospect from the Inglis Racehorse sale.

Five-year-old gelding, The Invincible One, has raced eight times and only finished out of the placings once, including two wins.

By Irish stallion Invincible Spirit, the galloper has shown his versatility by winning at the provincials and in all conditions.

In June, Hugh Bowman steered The Invincible One to victory on a bog track at Canterbury, while his first win came on firm ground at Kembla Grange.

The lightly-raced grey returned to the track by winning a barrier trial at Randwick on October 23, and is now settling into life at Cavanough's Albury racing complex.
